Vampire RPG ‘Nighthawks Hit by Steam Adult Classification, Delisted in Some

Upcoming vampire RPG Nighthawks has been classified as an adult game by Steam, resulting in the title being excluded from searches and delisted entirely in certain countries. Publisher Wadjet Eye Games says it is currently working to address the situation ahead of the game’s September 22, 2026, PC release.

Wadjet Eye Games founder and Nighthawks producer Dave Gilbert acknowledged the issue, stating that Valve considers the game adult content. Gilbert also joked that Valve is under the impression the game is “way sexier than it actually is.”

According to the game’s Steam mature content description, Nighthawks features strong language, adult situations, and occasional non-explicit nudity during romance scenes. Most of the mature material is conveyed through text. The developer states that the game does not feature graphic sex scenes or sexual violence.

Developed by The Curiosity Engine, Nighthawks is a narrative-heavy vampire RPG set after the existence of vampires has become public knowledge. Players take the role of a recently turned vampire who arrives in a city offering their kind a chance to start over amid continued suspicion from humans.

The story centers on taking control of a failing nightclub and building the business while interacting with other outcasts. Players can recruit 10 companions and use supernatural abilities such as Mesmerism to control humans, Natural Dominion to command animals, and Tenebrous Form to transform into smoke.

Nighthawks contains more than 800,000 words of written content and features full voice acting. Richard Cobbett, whose credits include Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies, serves as writer and designer. Old Skies and Unavowed artist Ben Chandler handles the artwork, while Unavowed composer Thomas Regin provides the music. Dave Gilbert serves as producer.

The project was funded on Kickstarter with support from 3,934 backers. Nighthawks is currently scheduled to launch for PC via Steam on September 22, 2026.
