Hytale Update 6 adds Hardcore Mode, Mod Browser, Gyro Controls, Networking

Hytale, the in-development open world RPG, has expanded with another huge update and there's lots of fun features added this time. It's still quite far from a proper release but that hasn't stopped a whole lot of people jumping in to play it and create content for it.

Something important to note - it now requires a GPU that supports OpenGL 4.1 or later.

As expected - the full changelog is rather long. So below I've highlighted a few specific fun bits.

Update 6 Highlights

• Mod Browser.
• Hardcore Mode:

  • Permadeath: Each player has a single life. Death is permanent.

  • Three Strikes: Each player has three lives. After strike three, you’re out.

  • Nine Lives: Everyone in the world has a shared pool of nine lives. Once the ninth death occurs, the run ends for all.

  • Soulbound: Everyone’s fate is interconnected. If any player dies, the run’s over.

• Spectator Mode.

• Gyro Controls for certain gamepads.

• Support for much bigger buildings.
• Various networking upgrades for easier online play with friends.

All this while they work on the much bigger Chapter 1 update to bring a whole lot of new actual content to play through. That will include various dungeons and boss fights, upgraded enemy factions, new carrying game mechanic, a new ability system, support for real transparency for objects, a new interface, a collection of mini-games and much more.
