If there’s one thing the latest trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance establishes quite well, it’s that the story is about as old-school as it gets.
You’ve got everything that makes up the quintessential RPG packed into it, with memorable characters, unique stories and motivations guiding them, and a lot of ways for those goals to intersect, each one resulting in some action and spectacle. Some of the battles the trailer showcases feature a great blend of that visual language with a modern touch, making its colours pop and emphasising each scene. Say what you will about HD-2D, but there’s no denying how gorgeous the results can be.
Of course, there’s also the bonds with your comrades along the way. We’re especially interested in befriending Noctis after his Vision showed off where he’s coming from.
Speaking of people we can’t wait to meet, there’s also Gilgamesh, who made quite the entrance in a previous trailer. We’re eager to see him, and equally sure we’re not going to forget that meeting in a hurry.
