As a massive fan of Fable who has been here since the franchise's humble beginnings on the original Xbox in 2004, when I heard about how long Playground Games' upcoming reboot would be, I wasn't bothered in the slightest. This is largely due to the fact that pretty much every game in the series has fallen around the same 30–40 hour completionist mark that Playground has confirmed for the reboot, so there really shouldn't be any fuss about it. But alas, it's 2026, and modern open-world RPG fans want more bang for their buck. I guess I can understand it somewhat, as there are plenty of other games in the genre that treat 30–40 hours as a baseline. However, Fable has never been lengthy from the standpoint of pure content, as it was designed, from the beginning, with the idea of offering players a sort of "second-life" fantasy in mind—and that's something that can last for as long, or as short, as the player wants it to.
