Crimson Moon Hotfix 1.0.1 Addresses Saves, Crashes, Camera Issues, and More

Ever since Crimson Moon was released, reception for the action RPG roguelike has been all over the place. Some players, myself included, have enjoyed the game, while others weren’t nearly as impressed. And honestly, I can understand why. Crimson Moon has plenty going for it, but it also launched with several problems that ProbablyMonsters and Team Metal have been working to address.

We’ve already seen updates that added improved keyboard and mouse support, including the ability to rebind keys. Now, the developer has outlined what’s coming over the next several weeks, starting with Hotfix 1.0.1. The update is targeting all platforms this week, although it could be pushed into early next week if the team runs into any last-minute issues with testing or platform approval.

What’s Included in Crimson Moon Hotfix 1.0.1?

Hotfix 1.0.1 will address several of the bigger complaints players have reported since launch. This includes improvements to the camera and lock-on system, crash and stability fixes, HUD scaling improvements, additional keybinding fixes, and problems with collecting relic objectives. The update will also address several co-op and user interface issues.

More importantly, the developer is introducing rolling backup saves to help protect players if a save becomes corrupted or refuses to load. Several issues that could unintentionally reset player progression are also being fixed. Losing progress is one of the worst things that can happen in a game like this, especially after spending hours working on a build, so this is easily one of the most important changes included in the hotfix.

The camera and lock-on system will also receive some much-needed attention, particularly when fighting larger enemies and bosses. I’ve run into moments where the camera made certain encounters more frustrating than they needed to be, so I’m interested to see how much of a difference these changes make. Several crashes are also being addressed, including one that could occur during the Egregore boss fight.

More Crimson Moon Updates Are Coming

Hotfix 1.0.1 is only the start of what the team has planned. Hotfix 1.0.2 is scheduled for later this month and will include another round of co-op and crossplay fixes, quest and objective blocker fixes, combat and boss adjustments, controller button customization, and improved information for Boons. Some of these features, especially controller button customization, definitely should have been available at launch, but I’m glad they’re being added.

Following that, Update 1.1 is planned for late October 2026, and will introduce a larger collection of quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback. ProbablyMonsters and Team Metal haven’t revealed everything included in that update yet, but more information will be shared as its release gets closer. Hopefully, it addresses some of the other complaints players have had since launch.

What About New Crimson Moon Content?

As for new content, nothing has been officially revealed just yet. The team says its current priority is fixing the problems affecting the game before showing what comes next. However, it did confirm that another free content update is being worked on, even if the developer isn’t ready to tell us what will be included.

I’ve enjoyed my time with Crimson Moon, but I’m also not going to pretend that the game doesn’t have issues. These updates sound like a step in the right direction, especially for anyone who put the game down because of crashes, progression problems, or the frustrating camera. Now, we’ll have to see if Hotfix 1.0.1 delivers when it arrives.
